Why a 'flat' rate costs far more than it sounds.
You save with a reducing rate
₹47,909
Some lenders quote a flat interest rate, charged on the full loan amount for the whole tenure. A reducing rate is charged only on the outstanding balance. The same number means very different costs.
Flat interest = P × I × T ÷ 100; Flat EMI = (P + interest) ÷ (T × 12)
Reducing EMI = [P × I × (1 + I)ᵀ] ÷ [(1 + I)ᵀ − 1], I = rate ÷ 1200, T = months
